Oakley G26 Wraparound Sunglasses

I've always been a fan of Oakley eye wear, and when Oakley opened up an outlet store near me I just had to go. While there I ran into the Oakley rep and started talking to him about shooting competitions and about how I was looking for a lens that would give me an edge during the match, and he said he had just the ticket. He sent me home with two pair of the new version of the M frames, and an array of lenses to try out.

Of course I got the traditional dark, clear and orange lenses that we all associate with shooting sports. Then I had a box with the special lenses in them. Model G26 is what they are called. Making reds, and oranges glow is what they do. Using an Eotech 512, the reticle just glows! These are the same lenses that the bi-athletes in the winter Olympics are using. They bring out the red and oranges much more than any other lenses that they offer. Until you use these, you will just have to take my word for it. Of course they still offer the same great ballistic protection as the regular Oakley's. I'm very glad because I caught some splash back from a shotgun target right in the face. It hit hard enough to take the finish off of the lenses. Certainly hard enough cause damage to my face. I'm not wild about the green/blue color of the finish on the outside of the lenses, but I am sure its there for a reason.

All in all, I think these are going to be the gold standard in shooting lenses. I know I love them.

Even with ultra-lightweight architecture that offers all-day comfort, the M FrameŽ surpasses ANSI Industrial Standards for high-mass and high-velocity impact protection. All lenses are made of pure Plutonite, a proprietary material that offers the highest level of optical clarity available in eyewear. PlutoniteŽ blocks 100% of all UVA, UVB, UVC and harmful blue light. Interchangeable lenses for all styles of M Frame are available in a full spectrum of color options. Each hue optimizes light transmission, absorption and reflection for a specific range of light conditions. This allows you to maintain the highest levels of contrast and clarity for any application. Optional IridiumŽ lens coatings offer a semi-reflective surface that maximizes contrast and minimizes glare. The range of Iridium tints allows the wearer to specifically tune light transmission for any environment.

The G26 lens has a rate of Transmission: 26%
Light Index = 2 (Partly Cloudy) It should also be noted that these are NOT for driving. The array has a MSRP of $245 including a hard case.
Spare lens cost is approx $40
